What is the DELE?
The DELE (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) are the official diplomas certifying your level of Spanish. They are issued by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education, at the six CEFR levels (A1 to C2).
How is the exam structured?
Each level has 4 tests: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and interaction, and oral expression and interaction. They are combined into 2 groups (written and oral skills). Duration and number of tasks vary by level.
How does grading work?
To earn the diploma you need an overall Pass (APTO): at least 60% of the total and a minimum score in each of the two groups. The result is Pass or Fail; there is no point scale.
Does the diploma expire?
No. Unlike a test, the DELE is a diploma valid for life. Once obtained it never expires and is recognized worldwide.
What is the DELE for?
It officially certifies your level of Spanish. It is required for study (many universities require B2 or C1), work or personal purposes. It is recognized by institutions and employers around the world.
Are the questions and audio official?
No, the questions and audio are original and created by our team in the DELE format. We respect the intellectual property of the Instituto Cervantes and do not reproduce any official exam. Audio is generated with synthetic Spanish voices.
How do mock exams work?
The app offers full exams in the diploma format, timed, test by test. At the end you get your estimated score per test, your total and a Pass / Fail verdict.
What is smart review?
An adaptive algorithm that selects questions prioritizing your weak spots: poorly mastered topics, difficult material types (audio vs text) and questions reviewed a long time ago (spaced repetition).
Is the app official?
No, PrepaEspaña is an unofficial practice app. DELE and Instituto Cervantes are trademarks of their owners. We are not affiliated with the Instituto Cervantes or any official body.
Is my data safe?
Your progress data is stored locally on your device and synced anonymously via Firebase. We do not collect data that identifies you directly (no name, no email). No advertising is shown.
